Artistic Vision Project

The Visionary’s Youth Empowerment & Leadership Foundation (VYELF) introduces the “Artistic Vision Project”(AV Project). AV Project is an arts initiative founded under the visionary’s youth empowerment and leadership foundation on the 03 January 2012. The project is due to start operation on the 01^st May 2012 for a period of 5 years.

The main problem we aim to tackle is the one of education and skills development through art education and raise awareness about social while creating art consciousness. Since creative training is especially not provided to children in rural school environments which, also service the most disadvantaged members of our communities, this places limitations on individual creativity in solving problems pertaining to ones everyday life at the most basic level. This project aims to creatively address the issues of skills shortages in the community by aligning relevant groups and individuals to the relevant resources and through arts development and involvement, open dialogue and raise awareness on social challenges while discussing possible answers through local art.

Project goals

The goal of this project is to stimulate youth engagement in art and cultural activities in Newcastle and its surrounds through education and skills development that culminates in the creation of economic opportunities. Also developing and supporting existing art with the intention to grow and help local art penetrate the national and international art scene and finally educate people and stimulate social consciousness in the youth and general community of not only Newcastle but South Africa and the world if possible.
